help me!
If you are having problems- first thing is don’t panic! Here are a few hints that might help you overcome those problems.
I can’t install the module into my moodle!
Make sure you are a moodle administrator and have ftp access to your moodle (The file and installation instructions we sent you do contain everything you need to know). If you’re still unable to find success- no problems. Just give us a call or email and we are happy to walk you through any hiccups related to your particular installation.
I can’t upload a video!
You can only upload a video after going there from you moodle. The MediaClamp interface will time out if you leave your computer for too long (a security feature) refresh/log back into your moodle and then access MediaClamp again.
Only Course creators, Editing teachers and Administrators have access to the MediaClamp interface.
My video uploaded successfully- but now I can’t find it!
After uploading, your media conversion can take from a few minutes to an hour (depending on the length of you video) you will recieve an email once its complete so you don’t have to wait around, or check in on your library to see when its complete.
Make sure you haven’t deleted a category with your video in it, dont worry, do a search by title then realocate the video to a new category.
My video uploads but then it simply wont work!
Test the video in the MediaClamp library, You have to paste the embed code in the moodle web site you specified in your licensing agreement. Others wont work!
Some uncommon video formats may break during conversion. If you have one of those unlucky uncommon formats, let us know and we will try to fix as soon as possible. Otherwise, simply convert to a popular codec and container prior to upload.
My video uploads but it doesn’t look any good!
Here are some tips re video encoding/conversion.
Video conversion is a complex science but MediaClamp will convert most popular video formats and Codecs. For best results we suggest using mp4, mkv, m4v or ogm containers. Popular codecs such as H264, VP3 and MPEG-4 will work.
MediaClamp will keep the same video aspect ratio as per your upload. It is recommended (though not essential ) to use a video size with at least 640 pixels in width.
There are many programs to convert and cut video files. Try using handbrake for your converting needs (it’s free too!). Quicktime Pro is another that will allow you to edit and cut. VLC is a great video player that does conversion and is also free.
Please note that you may need to experiment for best results of your original video conversion,
MediaClamp will convert your video file to .flv (streaming file) but can only do as good a job as the original file it is given.
Some of my students can see video and some can’t!
MediaClamp does work in any browser, so if you are having a problem- this is usually a problem with your student’s computer. Chances are they have an outdated version of flash- (we do have a Adobe Flash Version checker built in to MediaClamp - but not everything’s perfect!). Have them check and update their computer’s flash player here.
Also- make sure cookies are turned on (including third party cookies). The third party cookies needing to be accepted do have a valid p3p policy and should be automatically accepted without requiring tuning to the browser. If you have a custom cookie configuration in your browser, you may need to specifically allow .media.kjhosting.com.
A lot of the time, it’s a simple firewall that’s blocking MediaClamp- please ensure that a firewall isn’t blocking media.kjhosting.com.
